The item is a butter pat or pin dish manufactured between the 1930’s and 1949 by Chapmans Longton Ltd. under their Royal Standard trade name. The dish has been decorated with a signed Fragonard romance scene. The dish also has gold trim and a scalloped rim.
Chapmans Longton Ltd. was founded in 1916 as a subsidiary of Thomas C. Wild & Sons. In 1964 Allied English Potteries acquired The Wild Group and closed Chapmans Longton Ltd. permanently in 1966.
The dish is stamped underneath Royal Standard Fine Bone China England.
The dish is in very good condition with no damages noted.
