Rare Vintage (1944-1968) Sandland Ware Fine Porcelain Jam/Preserves Jar With Silver Plated Rim & Swing Handle - "Ye Olden Days" Pattern

Manufactured by Lancaster and Sandland  Ltd. between 1944 and1968, a rare Sandland Ware fine porcelain jam/preserves jar fitted with a silver plated rim, collar and swing handle as well as the original silver plated lid with empirical lid finial and demi-lune shaped cut for a jam spoon. The jar stands on four elegant outswept feet and has been decorated in Lancaster and Sandland’s “Ye Olden Days” pattern, which depicts a gentleman speaking to a lady with Dutch style homes and a carriage with horses in the background. The gentleman wears a sword by his side and bothe he and the lady are clothed in period dress. Lancaster and Sandland Ltd. was established as Lancaster & Sons Ltd. in Hanley, Staffordshire in 1899 becoming Lancaster and Sandland Ltd. in 1944 and closing permanently in 1968.

Stamped underneath Sandland Ware Lancaster & Sandland Ltd. Hanley Staffordshire England.

The silver plate on the item requires some polishing due to vintage patina, aside from which the item is in very good condition with no visible damages.
