8 Piece Dinnerware, 1927+ Vintage John Maddock & Sons Set Of Royal Ivory Ware – Minerva Series, Persian Rose Pattern

John Maddock & Sons, Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent began manufacturing as Maddock & Edwards before 1839 and became Maddock & Seddon between 1839-1842, then J. Maddock between 1842-1855 and John Maddock & Son (Ltd) in 1855, and finally & Sons (Ltd) in 1870 until its permanent closure in 1981.

The set consists of four side plates and four dinner plates and the items were designed and manufactured by John Maddock & Sons directly after 1927 with each item having uniquely crafted floral style to its shape while decorated in the Maddock’s version of the collectable “Persian Rose” pattern which displays an almost art deco style floral pattern along the verge in deep yellows, greens, orange and purple. A Persian motif highlights the center of each plate.

Each of the eight items is stamped underneath Royal Ivory, John Maddock & Sons Ltd Made in England Regd Shape 737954, Minerva. 

Two of the dinner plates have a tiny chip each underneath the rim, not visible from the top. Aside from these two chips and feint age related crazing the plates are all in very good usable vintage condition.

Side plate height: 1.4 cm, Diameter of base: 8.8 cm, Diameter of rim: 17.5 cm

Dinner plate height: 1.8 cm, Diameter of base: 11.4 cm, Across rim: 23.2 cm
